A page in one of the popular networks — VKontakte — is owned by many. These can be personal pages, community pages, or business accounts. However, regardless of the account's focus, situations may arise where you need to recover access to a page, recover the account itself, or its password. We will explain how to do this in different situations.
Why is it necessary to recover an account?
The need to recover a VK account can arise for various reasons. For instance, you may not have logged into your page for a long time and simply forgot the password. Or hackers broke into the account and are now sending various messages on your behalf. Or maybe you deleted the account yourself earlier and now want to restore the VKontakte page.
It also happens that the page is blocked by administrators. This occurs in the following cases:
- Sending identical messages with ads to both strangers and acquaintances;
- Spamming communities;
- Spreading prohibited information;
- Complaints from other users.
Let's look at different ways of recovering both the password and the page.
What to do if you forgot the VK password
Logged out of the account and can’t log back in because you forgot the password? In this case, regaining access to VK is very simple. You will need the phone number or email linked to the profile. Now proceed as follows.
Recover via email
- Go to vk.com and click the "Forgot password" button.
- Enter the email address you previously used to log into the social network. Then enter the surname listed on the page.
- VKontakte will find your profile and ask you to verify: is this definitely yours? Now, click "This is my page" and receive a link to create a password in the email linked to the profile.
- All that’s left is to go to your email, click the link, and set a new password. It's that simple!
Recover password via phone number
The procedure for recovering the password using a phone number is approximately the same as via email:
- Go to vk.com and click the "Forgot password" button.
- Specify the phone number you previously used to log into the social network and wait for the SMS with a code.
- Enter the code in a special field — and set a new password.
Recover password via a browser
Modern browsers often save passwords, bookmarks, and history. If the auto-save password feature is enabled, it will be sufficient to copy the forgotten password and enter it into the corresponding login field.
By the way, enabling auto-saving and viewing passwords in different browsers can be done like this:

Chrome: Open "Settings," then click "Passwords," then "Auto-fill."

Opera: Open "Settings," then — "Advanced" and "Security." There is a "Passwords" section. Browse and find the one you need.

Yandex Browser: Just open the browser's main menu and click "Password Manager."

Firefox: Open the menu, then choose "Settings," then "Privacy & Security," "Saved Passwords." Now, just click the "Show Passwords" button.

Safari: All saved passwords can be found on the eponymous tab in the "Settings" menu.

Edge: First, go to the "Control Panel," then open "User Accounts." Go to "Manage Internet Credentials" — and there you will find the password manager.

iOS: Passwords on iOS devices are saved in the "Keychain." To find them, go to "Settings" — "Passwords & Accounts" — "Website & App Passwords."

Android: Passwords on an Android system are saved in Chrome.
Of course, the browser will only help recover passwords if this feature was enabled.
How to restore a page without a phone number and email
Suppose you changed your phone, SIM card, and the VKontakte account was registered without an email. Is there no chance to see your page again? Not at all! There is still an opportunity to restore the account. You will need to verify your identity and link the account to a new phone number.
Go to the VKontakte account recovery page and press the "I don't remember these details or they are unavailable" button.

Find your account using the search bar. If you remember the page address, you can enter it directly. Found your account? Proceed to the next step!

Submit a request to recover the page. The moderator might ask for details about your page, how you lost it, request a recent photo of you or ask for a photo of a passport page.

Provide a current phone number to which your account will now be linked. Within a few seconds, a call will be made to the phone — enter the last four digits in the special code field.

Soon, a notification about the status of the request will arrive. The review and page recovery process will take from several minutes to a day.
How to unblock a page through friends
Another method that can help restore a page on VK, if you, for instance, don’t want to send a passport photo to strangers — friends. This option is available if certain conditions are met: your profile is not permanently blocked, you have access to the email and phone number linked to the account, you remember the surname listed in the profile, and you have three friends that you can select as trusted.
Once the offer to restore access through friends appears on the screen and you confirm your agreement, three friends will receive six-symbol codes. They need to enter these symbols in a special field. After this, you will gain access to the page.
How to unblock a VK page if it was blocked
Quite often, a VK page gets blocked if it was previously hacked by intruders. Before, for instance, sending out spam from your name, they definitely change the password.
Now, to unblock the page after hacking, you will have to prove that you are you. Or maybe you spread prohibited information, other users started complaining about you, and VK administrators simply banned you. What to do in such cases?
Temporarily banned
- Log into the blocked account and click the "Restore access" button.
- The next step is to confirm the phone number linked to the profile. For this, press "Get code" and enter the numbers that will come via SMS or the last four digits of the number from which a test call will be made.
- Now you can change the password and log into the account.
Note: upon logging into the blocked account, you will get a notification about the cause and duration of the freeze. In disputable cases, you can always contact the support service.
Permanent ban
Permanent ban is imposed on users who repeatedly violate social network rules, create fake pages. Usually, VK blocks the page after 10 complaints, but the page can be deleted permanently even with fewer complaints.
How to restore a VKontakte account if you deleted it yourself
Did you think the page has outlived its purpose and started a new one? Or maybe you had other reasons to delete your page first, and then restore it? Essentially, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you can restore a deleted page in VK within 210 days (seven months). All you need to do is enter your login and password — and the page will be active again.
However, if more than 210 days have passed, the page is permanently deleted, and even moderators cannot restore it.
The most important
You can recover a password or return a page in most cases. But we know it's easier to prevent a problem than to frown and think about how to solve it later. Therefore, remember the most important:
- Use complex passwords to protect your account: more than 8 characters of both Cyrillic and Latin letters, numbers, and symbols in upper and lower cases. Adding symbols makes the password more difficult;
- Be ethical and polite;
- Do not violate VK rules.
