  • VKontakte and Facebook*. Essentially, the existence of hashtags in these social networks is more of a tribute to tradition and the fashion of their time. Nowadays, such tags are practically not used, as developers have created a convenient and effective search system.
  • Instagram*. In this social network, the main content is images and photos, and therefore special tags play a very important role in navigation. Thanks to the subscription function to specific tags, users timely receive notifications about posts published on topics of interest to them. When creating posts, it is not recommended to use too many tags, ideally no more than 7-8.
  • Twitter. Hashtags gained their popularity specifically in this social network, after which they spread to other platforms. For many years, they have been the main method for searching for suitable information and grouping posts. Considering the limited character availability (280) of a post on Twitter, authors usually use no more than three tags.
  • Telegram. In this messenger, tags are usually needed solely for navigation within the channel. They are necessary for grouping posts on specific topics. Users, by using hashtags, gain access to a specific selection of materials.

Using hashtags to attract an audience

Many companies are now promoting their products with the help of hashtags, as it is a fairly effective way to attract the audience's attention. An excellent option for using tags is to conduct various surveys or contests, which can be labeled with the appropriate tag. They are also suitable for labeling content targeted at an audience of a specific location (city, town, etc.).

It is important to remember that #hashtags can and should be used when creating content on social networks and messengers, as they ensure its organization. They will definitely help in promoting a product, service, or event, and most importantly, will distinguish you from competitors.
